Downton Abbey roses carry spirit of show past the series finale

Downton Abbey just wrapped up its invigorating six-season run -“ don't worry, no spoilers here. What are we to do without our favorite genteel series? Fortunately, for fans of the historic masterpiece that are also fans of gardening, there is hope for a happy existence beyond catching re-runs, in the resplendent form of Breck's Downton Abbey roses. We've worked with Week's Roses to release four new roses during the show's run, each in honor of our favorite characters from the Crawley home.

Edith's Darling Downton Abbey Shrub Rose

This delightful rose is named in honor of Marigold, Edith's darling daughter and Crawley family's newest member. Just like her namesake, this British-style shrub is a beacon of joy and beauty as it produces clusters of bright, round 3" roses that will keep stealing hearts all season long. Edith's darling is amazingly compact, with luxuriant green foliage which makes it an excellent container plant ideal for decorating decks and porches and for flanking walkways. This exceptionally dependable shrub has been known to do especially well in regions with dry climate.

Violet's Pride Downton Abbey Floribunda Rose

Named for the Dowager Countess of Grantham, Violet's Pride will stand a commanding presence in the landscape. The 4" full blooms are a rich lavender-purple, with bright magenta centers that complete a captivating dual tone effect. This genteel shrub produces large clusters of flowers right from spring to frost and has manageable, compact habit that makes it well suited for containers that can be used to wonderful effect in decks and patios and mixed borders. Violet's pride has a pleasant fruity fragrance and excellent disease resistance.

Pretty Lady Rose Downton Abbey Hybrid Tea Rose

Pretty Lady Rose pays homage to Lady Rose MacClare and embodies her namesake's inherent strength and grace. The large 4-5 inch blooms are a delectable deep pink with ruffled petals that endow them with a regal flair. The flowers last long and have a savory aroma that incorporates hints of spices and peonies, reminiscent of perfumes that a Downton Alley-era noblewoman would wear. The vibrant medium green foliage too, strikes as a lady's glossy gown, providing the bush with a flamboyant edge that fades the competition into the background. Pretty Lady Rose has wonderfully compact habit which makes her an elegant potted plant for small spaces and container gardens.
