Unique, smoky plum, bottlebrush plumes open from black buds appear in midsummer to give borders and naturalized areas a wonderful splash of lateseason colour. This versatile, drought-tolerant bloomer is also excellent in cutting gardens and makes a fantastic dried flower. One of the easiest and most rewarding perennials to grow, this clumpforming giant performs well in most types of well-drained soil as long as it receives plenty of sunshine. Attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Aromatic, lanceshaped to ovate leaves are an eyecatching blue-green.
