Why do I garden? Some of y’all might recall the heartbreak MisterDitty and I went through May 2020. Some of you might remember I basically went radio silent in the quilt world for over a year. And some of you probably have no clue what I’m even talking about. It boils down to this…we can’t always prep and expect our plans to follow through easily or happily. We can’t always have or get what we want…or what we deserve for that matter. Both our hearts were shattered…and I turned to my flowers during that season of loss and mourning. I *could* spend hours outside soaking up sun and talking to God one-on-one. I *could* plan my garden and pretty much expect them to bloom. I *could* snip off stems and bring my flowers inside with me. My garden was where I was able to dig in and find some joy. Of course my flowers don’t replace the void of our babies’ presence, but they sure helped me focus and more quickly accept that His plan isn’t always “my” plan. And I’m at peace with that. — So here we are nearly 4 years to the day later, and my flowers are a perfect May reminder for me to always trust God’s plan, trust in my faith, and celebrate the blessings that I do have. So today, in addition to “Deep & Inner Thoughts from Sarah,” I share with you my early-mid May peonies: Lorelei, Coral Charm, Mary Jo Legare, Festiva Maxima, High Noon, Gardenia & Moon River. I adore these blooms and love sharing them with y’all as well. Trust me…more are on the way! ☺️ — #saridittyflowers #peoniesaremyfavorite #peony #pinkpeonies #brecksbulbs #saridittygarden

Morning from the meadows! This is the last look at the peonies BEFORE the last few days of weather took them from fabulous to floral petal confetti. As well as the first Japanese Iris has opened and a few other beauties from the garden. #flowers #iris #

A little pretty to fill your morning feed. Learning to grow flowers requires a lot of research trial and error asking others for help. Such good lessons to apply to learning and listening more as the world changes. Happy Sunday. # # # # #soireeflor
