Description

This beloved reliable performer, which was introduced in the mid-1960s, produces an ever-changing palette of colour for weeks on end. Its clusters of bright red buds form with a hint of coral, then open to reveal golden-yellow, double blooms edged in red that ultimately turn brilliant red in their entirety. Faintly scented with a light tea fragrance, the colourful, 3" blooms emerge from new and old wood, standing in stark contrast to the glossy, dark green foliage. This well-branched, classic climber flowers heavily early on, then repeatedly blooms throughout the summer. Cutting or deadheading the first flowers soon after they wither will increase the number of blooms later in the season on this free-flowering favourite.
